Dr. Ir. Jacqueline Baar fascinated by a Chanterelle
The vision of Biomygreen comprises that sustainable soil is economics. A good soil quality provides optimal growth of perennials, flowers, bulbs, trees and crops providing return on investment. A sustainable soil is balanced in physical, chemical and biological properties. There is a wide diversity of soil micro-organisms, including mycorrhizal fungi.
In the term Biomygreen can the vision also be found: -Bio is the abbreviation of biology; -M is the first letter of micro-organisms; -My stands for mycorrhizal fungi; -Green stands for perennials, flowers, bulbs, trees and crops.
Dr. Ir. Jacqueline Baar disseminates this vision, as founder and managing director of Biomygreen. Jacqueline has been interested in soil life since she studied biology at the Wageningen University. Jacqueline received her PhD in mycorrhizal fungi. As post-doctoral researcher at different universities in the United States, among which University of California in Berkeley, Jacqueline specialized in mycorrhizal fungi and other soil organisms. Back in The Netherlands, Jacqueline focused on the application of mycorrhizal fungi. She was employed at the Radboud University Nijmegen and at Applied Plant Research, Wageningen University. In 1999, Jacqueline started the Mycorrhizal Group in The Netherlands bringing researchers and businesses together. From 2007 to 2011 Jacqueline led a European network, COST Action 870, aiming to enhance the application of mycorrhizal fungi. Jacqueline has written a number of publications, among which several books on mycorrhizal fungi. Jacqueline gives on a regular basis presentations and courses. Also, she is guest lecture at several technical schools. Soil life has been a very successful design by Mother Earth. It's more than 450 million years old. All these years, this design has led to a proper development of plants and trees. The design has been successful mainly because the soil organisms in the environment have been so effective.
The value of soil is high. Soils are the habitat for soil organisms being natural fertilizers ensuring the availability of nutrients and water to plants. Soil organisms are crucial for a good soil structure, healthy soil environment and CO2 capture. Soil with a great diversity of organisms develops the most optimal with no or limited use of any chemicals.
Biomygreen stands for integration of the successful design "soil life" in current life practices for economic benefits. Biomygreen considers it of great importance that soil life is appropriately applied to plant species and soil. Just that promotes plant growth, increases yields and extends to the quality and lifespan of plants and trees. Appropriate soil life also creates opportunities for sustainable development of green in the cities or successful nature restoration.
